What is most important to you? Getting it all done, or being present with what is?
When it comes to getting it all done, for many there is the added pressure of getting it done perfectly, and doing it all exactly as it was done in years past.
This pressure to be perfect, to please everyone, and to stick rigidly to traditions adds a tremendous amount of pressure on you.
For some, the pressure leads to a short fuse, headaches, exhaustion, and anxiety in other areas of life. When pressure escalates for you, take a moment to notice what is going on in your body. How do you feel? What messages is your body trying to convey? How do you "wish" you could feel?
To manage your holiday stress, take these steps:
1. Put yourself first. When you tune into your body, and your body is not responding well to pressure, take a much needed break.
2. Sit down, take a drink of water or decaffeinated beverage.
3. Give some thought to what you want most this holiday season. Can you let go of perfection and traditions so that you have what it takes to enjoy what you want most?
4. Breathe. Connect your body, mind and spirit and allow the joy of the holiday that you celebrate to permeate you.
